Are you ready to be scared? The Halloween season is closer every day and it’s time to make plans as Vancouver’s events are always popular. This year will bring a lot of exciting and scary activities for all Halloween enthusiasts! We picked several awesome events to visit during this “terrifying” season so you could experience Vancouver’s Halloween vibe in full. 


 

Flyover Canada at Halloween 

Flyover Canada is a popular year-round tourist attraction featuring a short movie at Canada Place. The visitors are fastened into a row of seats that flies around the numerous scenes. Visitors can experience the smells, light breezes, and refreshing mists along with beautiful scenery which is a part of the movie. In October, FlyOver Canada reflects a Halloween ambiance and decorates with ghoulish characters. The visitors will see dancing skeletons in the introduction and will be surprised by the sudden appearance of a witch flying on a broomstick during the movie.

Edgemont Haunt

New for 2019, it's True North Terror! Canadian folklore-themed haunt display features live actors, creepy crawlies, and terrifying sounds!  Do you dare to venture inside?

Vancouver Aquarium

Vancouver Aquarium announced another great After Hours event to celebrate Halloween! Get spooked with sharks, jellyfish, have fun at a costume contest and trivia while you sip your cocktail and explore the galleries. Costumes are encouraged, but not mandatory. Why not enhance your experience and buy a VIP ticket? You will get early event entry at 6 p.m, special VIP bar, and VIP area, one souvenir photo; and tricks & treats, and more!

Ghostly Vancouver Tours

Vancouver's Oldest Neighbourhood is a perfect place for Halloween. Join a 90-minute walk through the cobbled streets and alleyways, listen to the stories of Gastown's immortal residents. Who is the mysterious Lady in Black and how did the Headless Railman die? All the answers are waiting for you on a spooky ghost tour through the Gastown.

VanDusen Glow in the Garden 

VanDusen Glow returns for another season of Halloween festivities. Walk through a new light show with memorable features, admire lit-up carved pumpkins or join activities at VanDusen Garden at night during the last week of October.  Besides, this year you can enjoy an expanded event area, new food vendors and timed tickets.

PumpkinFest 2019

PumpkinFest returns for the 9th Annual Harvest Community Festival. An old-fashioned, community-style day is full of family-friendly activities. There are over 5,000 visitors each year who gather at the West Vancouver Community Centre to join the festivities. Get ready for old-fashioned games, harvest contest, farm animals,  pumpkin patch, artisan market and a lot more!

 

Where & When: West Van Community Centre, 2121 Marine Drive. October 6, 2019 10 am to 3 pm

 

Parade of Lost Souls

 

Vancouver’s Parade of Lost Souls is a decade-old annual tradition. Participants gather together in Halloween costumes, walk around, listen to music, enjoy live entertainment and most importantly, have a good time. Annually, this event attracts over 10, 000 visitors who celebrate the cycles of life and death. 

 

Where & When: Commercial Drive neighbourhood, East Vancouver, Nov 2 from 7 pm to 10 pm

 

Fright Nights 

Playland’s annual Halloween celebrations take place at the PNE grounds at 2901 East Hastings Street. Get spooked at half a dozen haunted houses and enjoy over a dozen rides.  

Where & When: Playland Entrance at East Hastings and Windermere st, Oct 4 to Oct 31 from 7 pm 

 

Festival of Hallows 

 

Join the Spirit of Day of the Dead to remember and honor the deceased friends, loved ones, volunteers and community members at the Festival of Hallows. Originated in ancient Celtic traditions,  The Festival of Hallows emphasizes the importance of paying respect to our ancestors while celebrating life itself. The Hallows Festival will offer many free activities and workshops including Halloween candies for kids, ceramic skull glazing, sugar skulls, mask painting, pumpkin carving, live music, free food and more. 

Where & When: Emery Barnes Park (Seymour and Davie Street), Oct 31 from 4 pm to 10 pm

Burnaby’s Haunted Village 

It’s getting spooky at the Burnaby Village Museum. Everyone is welcome to join family-friendly Halloween activities at Burnaby Village. Take your kids trick-or-treating or for the free carousel rides. The Ice Cream Parlour will offer ghoulish snacks and light meals in the spirit of the Haunted Village theme. And don’t forget to wear your costume! There is a small admission fee: $14 for adults, seniors and youth, and $9 for children ages 2 to 12.

 

Where & When: Burnaby Village Museum,  Oct 25 to Oct 28 from 6 pm to 9 pm each night
